The battery of a car is the power buffer that runs all the electrical and electronic gadgets, like car lock, car lights, alarms, and other accessories.  If the battery of the car is dead then the car is also almost dead as most of its functions don’t work. Even there are chances that your car won’t start once the battery is dead and that’s the last thing that what you would think for.

Focus on the cables and the top of the battery

It’s recommended that you regularly clean the top of the battery and places on the battery where there are chances of corrosion. You can do it easily using the mixture of baking soda and water, which you could use on the areas subjected to corrosion. This will make sure there is no corrosion on the battery which will improve its life.

The other thing that requires a lot of attention are the cables that are connected to the battery. All you need to do is disconnect them from the battery and make sure that they are in good shape. Taking out the cables from the battery will also allow you to clean the battery terminals, which are highly exposed to corrosion.

Regularly keep a check on the electrolyte levels

The decrease in the electrolyte levels in the battery can cause the battery to lose its efficiency. You just need to take off the covers of the battery cell and you could see the levels of the electrolyte. If you find that the battery needs water, make sure you use clean distil water to fill it.

Check the charge of the battery regularly

To check the charge in the battery you’ll have to check and test the electrolytes in each cell. Carefully try to take the electrolytes out of the battery and test them. A completely charged battery should have a reading of 1.256 or more in charge testers and if your battery shows lesser value than its time to change your car’s battery.
